Guinean security services seized 6.7 kilogrammes of cocaine from a Portuguese passenger identified as Mamadu Baldé on Wednesday at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport in Conakry.

The suspect was apprehended as he was about to board an Air France flight to Paris, Guinéenews reported on Thursday.

According to Guinéenews, there have been several recent drug seizures at the airport involving both Guineans and foreigners. On September 24, a French national, Victorine Blancherie, was arrested with 2.6 kg of cocaine at the same airport.

The recent drug busts in West African countries highlight a growing concern that the West African coast is increasingly becoming a source and a central point for drugs heading to other continents.
