Ghanaians to Travel to St Kitts and Nevis Without Visa

Ghanaian citizens will soon be able to travel to the Caribbean nation of St Kitts and Nevis without requiring a visa after both countries signed a new visa exemption agreement.

The deal allows holders of ordinary Ghanaian passports to enter St Kitts and Nevis freely, expanding an earlier arrangement that only covered diplomatic and service passports.

The agreement was signed in Accra during a state visit by the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Michael Drew. Ghana’s president described the agreement as a practical step toward strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.

Both governments say the visa waiver will boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between West Africa and the Caribbean. The agreement also highlights growing cooperation between African countries and Caribbean states with shared historical ties.

Alongside the visa waiver, the two countries also signed a labour agreement that will allow Ghanaian health professionals to work in St Kitts and Nevis, addressing shortages in the Caribbean country’s healthcare sector.

Officials say the deal represents a broader effort to deepen relations between Africa and Caribbean nations that share historical connections dating back to the transatlantic slave trade.

For Ghanaian travelers, the agreement opens new opportunities for tourism and business in the Caribbean region, while St Kitts and Nevis hopes to benefit from skilled professionals and stronger economic ties with West Africa.
