Funke Akindele’s New Comedy Film ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ Set For December 13 Release

1.1k

Funke Akindele’s latest comedy film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, will hit cinemas nationwide on December 13. The premiere date was confirmed through a humorous promotional video on Akindele’s Instagram page, where the cast of her previous film, A Tribe Called Judah, humorously battled it out with the cast of her new project.

The lighthearted competition symbolised the decision to release Everybody Loves Jenifa this year. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Omowumi Dada, Nancy Isime, Falz, Stan Nze, Bisola Aiyelola, Jackie Appiah and Patience Ozokwor.

Everybody Loves Jenifa is an extension of the popular Jenifa franchise, a TV series called Jenifa’s Diary, in 2015 and gained further popularity with spin-offs such as Aiyetoro Town and Jenifa on Lockdown. The franchise, based on Akindele’s beloved character, Jenifa, has captivated audiences with its blend of humour and heart.

As fans anticipate the release of Everybody Loves Jenifa on December 13th, expectations are high to see Akindele amass more than ₦1 billion at the box office as she did with A Tribe Called Judah by hitting ₦1 Billion. Akindele is the highest-grossing Nigerian director of all time and A Tribe Called Judah is the highest grossing movie of all time in Nigeria.
