From APC Chairman to Aviation Boss: Ganduje’s ‘Health’ Resignation Clears Path for FAAN Appointment by Tinubu

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ganduje Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, has been embroiled in a factional dispute, resulting in the suspension of the party's National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

Former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has officially assumed his new role as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), following his recent resignation as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The formal inauguration of the newly appointed FAAN board members took place today in Abuja, amid renewed media focus on Ganduje’s appointment, which was initially announced in January by President Bola Tinubu.

Ganduje’s appointment, part of a broader reshuffle involving 42 federal agencies and organisations, was announced earlier in the year by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

At the time of the announcement, Ganduje was still serving as the APC National Chairman, a dual role that drew widespread public and political attention.

President Tinubu had directed that all appointed board chairpersons, including Ganduje, should refrain from interfering in the day-to-day management of the agencies, stating clearly that their positions are non-executive.

Ganduje stepped down from his role as APC National Chairman last week, citing personal reasons and the need to focus on his well-being. His resignation paved the way for the appointment of Ali Bukar Dalori, the former Deputy National Chairman of the APC (North), as the new party leader.

With Ganduje’s exit from partisan leadership, the Presidency’s earlier appointment of him to the FAAN board appears to have taken full effect, culminating in today’s inauguration.
