Two employees of FoodCo, situated at the Ring Road branch in Ibadan, Oyo State, Ebenezer Olusesi, aged 31, and Ibrahim Adeniyi, aged 41, found themselves in court on Monday at the Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court, Ibadan, facing allegations of stealing two loaves of bread valued at N2,600 from their employer.

Both Olusesi, a baker, and Adeniyi, a security guard, pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft levelled against them—the prosecution, represented by Cpl. David Adepoju asserted that the defendants conspired to perpetrate the offence.

Adepoju informed the court that on April 28, the defendants purportedly stole two loaves of bread worth N2,600, belonging to FoodCo Company in Ring Road, Ibadan, as attested by Friday Achibong.

The alleged act contradicts Sections 390(a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted bail to the defendants, setting the sum at N50,000 each, along with two sureties each to guarantee their appearance.

One of the sureties must be a relative, while the second must furnish tax documentation for the past two years.

The case has been adjourned until August 15 for further proceedings.
