Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have sealed their qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile after a dramatic victory over Senegal in the ongoing CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.

In a tense encounter at the Cairo International Stadium on Monday, both teams battled to a goalless draw over 90 minutes, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.

The Flying Eagles held their nerve, defeating Senegal 3-1 in the shootout to progress to the semi-finals. Goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt emerged as the hero by pulling off two brilliant saves during the penalty shootout, and a third penalty from the Senegalese crashed against the crossbar, handing Nigeria a deserved 3-1 shootout victory.

The win marks a significant achievement for the Flying Eagles, who continue their quest for a record-extending eighth African title while also preparing for another shot at global glory in Chile.
