An early Saturday morning fire incident occurred at the outer court of the Kofar Kudu Palace, the residence of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The event had been duly confirmed by Munir Bayero, the Danburam Kano and chief of staff to the emir.
He said the fire emanated in the morning from the palace but was contained in time, so minimal damage was done to the palace premises.
Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the damage was minimal. The palace is taking all necessary measures to ensure the security and safety of its occupants, he said.
According to the report, authorities at the palace are investigating what may have caused the fire. Preventive measures are also being taken to ensure such a disaster does not recur.
Kofar Kudu Palace is an important historical and cultural landmark in Kano State and the official residence of the Emir.
Recall, Governor Yusuf reinstated the now Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano after years of the earlier dethroning by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. This has been followed by court proceedings and issues relating to the rightful Emir of Kano.
