Fifty-five persons have allegedly been abducted along Damari town in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to Channels TV, the incident occurred on Thursday around 8 pm while the victims, numbering over 70, were escorting a bride to her matrimonial home.

A resident who confirmed the incident to the TV via phone call said three security volunteers died in a bid to rescue the victims. “Before the hoodlums attack the victims on a canter vehicle, the victims were initially over 70, mostly friends to the bride in which several others escaped.”

However, security officials are yet to confirm the incident. This is coming after the Nigerian Police declared that kidnappings are not on the rise in the country while the Federal Government cautioned the media on its reportage about the rising insecurity.
