EXPOSED: Leaked Document Reveals LUTH Plans to Sell Palliative Rice to Junior Staff
LUTH Leak

The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), in a leaked circular dated February 23, 2024, announced its plans to sell palliative rice to its junior staff for a fee of N5000 per 12.5kg.

The memo with reference number ADM/HRM/CIRCULAR/VOL.III, the AG. Director of Administration for Chief Medical Director at LUTH, Omolola O. Fakeye, wrote to inform all Heads of Departments, especially the junior staff of the health facility interested in partaking in the Federal Government’s intervention provision of rice amidst the current economic hardship, to be physically present for registration and validation.

The leaked circular revealed that it is scheduled to be held on Monday, February 26th, 2024, starting at 9:00 a.m. (WAT).

However, Fakeye urged all heads of the department to release the junior staff members to come along with their original and duplicate proof of identity card as a requirement, and the stipulated fee for the rice distribution.

It is worthy of note that all Federal Government palliatives are embroidered as NOT TO BE SOLD or NOT FOR SALE, yet the management of LUTH under has confidently placed a price tag on the palliative food item.

In part, the circular reads:

As part of the Federal Government’s intervention to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship, the Government has made available the provision of rice for Junior Staff.

Furthermore, “Please note that the cost of the rice, which is N5,000 (five thousand naira) only per 12.5kg bag, will be deducted directly from salary and NO PROXY REGISTRATION,” the circular reads.

Meanwhile, the management said the opportunity will be available to the first four hundred junior staff members (permanent, locum, and LUTH initiatives), meaning first come, first served.
