The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended voting time in areas of Edo State where the process started late.
INEC, in a press release, stated that voting will continue beyond the original closing time in these affected areas. All voters who arrived at their polling units by 2:30 p.m. will be allowed to cast their ballots, it said.
INEC came under criticism after several netizens complained on X that INEC officials were yet toarrive at the polling units for voters to vote in the gubernatorial election.
Writing on his X handle over the voting delays, Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, aka Davido, called out the electoral body, describing it as the “most dangerous institution in Nigeria.”
He further asked INEC to extend the voting time, which the electoral body later did.
