Death Toll From Mass Shootings in South Africa Rises to 18

The death toll from mass shootings in Lusikisiki village, Eastern Cape, South Africa, has risen to 18. Another victim died, authorities confirmed on Monday.

The attacks happened Saturday night when gunmen opened fire at two houses on the same street during a family event. Police are still searching for the shooters. The motive remains unknown. No arrests have been made, according to police.

President Cyril Ramaphosa condemned the killings and promised to deploy all necessary resources for the investigation. He also noted that 38 people had died in other mass shootings over the past two years, with 25 suspects arrested so far. The police stated that there is an ongoing investigation into the recent shootings.
