The former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele has been granted bail in the sum of N50 million after facing charges related to alleged abuse of office.
Emefiele faced a 26-count charge, with accusations ranging from irregular allocation of funds to abuse of authority.
The charges against Emefiele highlight the alleged irregular allocation of $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion. These accusations have drawn significant attention, given Emefiele’s prominent role in the country’s central banking system.
Justice Rahmon Oshodi presided over the bail hearing today, where Emefiele was granted bail with two sureties each in N50 million.
