Nigerians Kehinde Bankole and Wale Ojo emerged victorious as they clinched the titles of Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively, at this year’s AMVCA 2024 awards. The coveted Best Movie award went to “Breath of Life,” beating out other formidable contenders in the 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), often likened to the Nigerian equivalent of the Oscars.

The star-studded event, which brought together numerous luminaries from the entertainment industry, celebrated outstanding achievements across various categories. Notable winners included Chimezie Imo, who received the Trailblazer Award, and Isaac Ayomide Olayiwola, whose work “Medical Negligence and Copyright Infringement” earned him the Best Digital Content accolade.

In the acting realm, veterans and rising stars were recognised for their remarkable performances. Demola Adedoyin’s portrayal in “Breath of Life” earned him the Best Supporting Actor award, while Genoveva Umeh’s role in the same movie secured her the Best Supporting Actress title. Wale Ojo and Kehinde Bankole shone brightly as they clinched the titles of Best Lead Actor and Best Lead Actress, respectively.

Behind the scenes, the industry’s unsung heroes were also honoured for their contributions. Categories such as Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Sound Design recognised the technical excellence in bringing stories to life on the screen.

In addition to the competitive categories, special recognition was given to exemplary individuals such as Esther Idowu Phillips (Iya Rainbow) and Richard Mofe Damiji (RMD) through the Industry Awards.

This year’s edition of the AMVCA marked a departure from the usual voting process, garnering praise from fans worldwide for its innovative approach to selecting winners.
