1.1k

After six years of male winners dominating the stage, Nigerian Idol finally crowned a woman, and her name is Purp. The 25-year-old singer, whose real name is Anu Agosa, was announced the winner of Nigerian Idol Season 10 on Sunday night, bringing a 12-week journey to a powerful close. Her win marks only the third time a woman has taken home the title in the show’s history.

Purp won over the hearts of Nigerians with her unique voice, charisma, and consistency, earning the highest number of votes in the season finale. She outperformed fellow finalist Raymu in a dramatic face-off that had fans cheering from all corners of the country.

With the victory comes a life-changing prize package: ₦30 million in cash, a brand-new SUV, a DStv Explora decoder with a year of Premium subscription, and a music deal to launch her professional career.

The live finale, hosted by veteran presenter IK Osakioduwa, featured musical tributes, electrifying performances, and special appearances. Judges Omawumi, Ric Hassani, Iyanya, and guest judge 9ice praised both finalists, noting how much they had grown throughout the competition.

Season 10 kicked off on May 25, starting with auditions and progressing to live shows, where the top 10 contestants —Mikki, Raymu, Ellacentric, Kristopher, Sally, Boss Lady, Brammy, Jkenova, Lawrence, and Purp — were gradually voted off by the public.

Though all contestants brought their A-game, it was Purp who stood out week after week, proving that talent, passion, and persistence still win hearts and votes.
