469

Former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi has donated ₦60 million to two Nigerian universities as part of his continued support for education and youth development.

The donations were made during visits to two institutions. Obi presented ₦30 million to Dominican University in Ibadan, Oyo State, and another ₦30 million to Peter University in Achina, Anambra State.

Speaking during the visits, Obi stressed that education remains one of the most important investments any nation can make. He said supporting academic institutions helps strengthen communities and prepares young people to contribute meaningfully to national development.

According to him, the visits were not simply ceremonial but part of his broader commitment to encouraging learning and intellectual growth among Nigerian students.

He also said universities should remain places where young people are inspired to dream beyond their immediate circumstances and develop the knowledge needed to help build a stronger society.

Obi has repeatedly advocated greater investment in education, arguing that countries that prioritise learning and skills development are better positioned to achieve long term economic growth.
