Russia Congratulates Ibrahim Traoré on Assuming AES Presidency

Russia has congratulated Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, on his assumption of the rotating presidency of the Confederation of Sahel States, known by its French acronym AES.

The Russian Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Igor Martynov, conveyed Moscow’s congratulations during an official exchange, expressing hope that Burkina Faso, as a founding member of the AES, would drive concrete momentum in strengthening the Confederation. He highlighted regional security as a key area where such leadership could have an immediate impact.

Discussions also focused on bilateral cooperation between Russia and Burkina Faso, as well as on identifying strategic projects within the broader framework of Russia–AES cooperation.
