The National Guard of Niger (GNN) launched a major blood donation campaign to help meet the country’s urgent medical needs. The initiative took place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Niamey’s National Blood Transfusion Centre.

Under the leadership of the GNN’s High Commander, Colonel-Major Ahmed Sidian, the operation brought together members of the Guard and their spouses, who donated blood in a show of solidarity and civic duty.

According to the organisers, the effort aims to strengthen the national blood supply, which is a critical resource for hospitals and emergency services across the country.

The National Blood Transfusion Centre commended the initiative, presenting certificates of appreciation to Colonel-Major Ahmed Sidian and Commander El Moctar Bouzou, Director of Health and Social Action Services for the GNN, for their leadership in promoting humanitarian action within the force.

Beyond their role in national security, the Guards’ participation highlights their broader commitment to public welfare and community service.

As the campaign’s slogan reminds: “Donating blood means saving lives.”
