Spin-Off Of “The Smart Money Woman” Series, LaraUnlimited, To Premiere May 29

A new spin-off, titled LaraUnlimited, will premiere on May 29 across digital platforms, spotlighting the character Lara from The Smart Money Woman series, whose ambitious journey captured the audience’s attention. Created and scripted by Arese Ugwu in collaboration with Samsung, the show was filmed using the Samsung S25 to explore the deeper layers of Lara’s personal and financial evolution.

The new title follows the formidable character Lara, portrayed by Nollywood actress Toni Tones. Her fierce ambition, unapologetic drive, and high-powered persona captivated audiences in the original series.

LaraUnlimited offers viewers an even closer look at her evolution. An exploration of her financial growth, professional challenges, and personal complexities as she carve out her identity in the competitive world of African business and wealth-building.

The original show, which premiered its second season in October, three years after its debut, was based on the bestselling book The Smart Money Woman by Arese Ugwu. The series broke ground for its authentic portrayal of five women navigating careers, love, friendships, and their relationship with money in a fast-paced Lagos society.

With Ugwu’s sharp financial insights and a refreshing focus on female empowerment, the show struck a chord with young Africans seeking entertainment and practical life advice.

Now, with Lara Unlimited, Ugwu deepens that impact by producing the spin-off and writing the script herself. The movie is shot entirely on the Samsung S25, thanks to a partnership between the tech giant and the film’s creators. This collaboration highlights advances in mobile filmmaking and signals a shift toward more innovative and accessible production methods in Nollywood.

LaraUnlimited, which is expected to premiere on May 29th, retains the blend of financial realism and dramatic flair that made The Smart Money Woman a fan favourite across the continent and in the diaspora.
