Nigeria’s Flamingos cruised into the knockout stage of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup following a dominant 4-0 victory over Ecuador in their second Group A match.

The impressive win on Saturday, guaranteed their spot in the next round after previously defeating New Zealand 4-1 in their opening match.

Flamingos took control of the game early just as in their opening match, with Shakirat Moshood breaking the deadlock in the 28th minute.

After the halftime break, the Flamingos intensified their attack, Harmony Chidi extended Nigeria’s lead in the 54th minute, while Peace Effiong added a third in the 66th minute, further demoralising the Ecuadorian side.

Moshood capped off the victory with her second goal of the match in the 96th minute, completing a brace and rounding off a convincing performance.

With this win, Nigeria sits comfortably in Group A and has secured a place in the knockout stage.

Their next match is against the host nation, the Dominican Republic, on Tuesday, October 22.
