1.3k

Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has achieved a significant career milestone, surpassing 2 billion streams on Spotify, as reported by data from Spotify aggregating platform Kworb on October 10, 2024. This accomplishment solidifies her position as one of the leading figures in Nigeria’s global music scene.

Ayra Starr, who first gained attention with her debut EP in 2019, joins the ranks of Nigerian artists such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Rema, CKay, Tems, and Davido in reaching this streaming landmark. Her second album, The Year I Turned 21, released earlier this year, has already accumulated over 500 million streams, contributing to this achievement. Notably, her hit track “Bloody Samaritan” alone has garnered 82 million streams.

The year 2024 has been exceptionally successful for the 22-year-old Grammy-nominated artist. In addition to her streaming success, she earned four nominations at the upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards, where she will compete for Best New Artist, Best African Act, Best Afrobeats Act, and Best Push. She is the highest nominated Nigerian for the MTV EMAs.

Looking ahead, fans anticipate even more from Ayra Starr, as she has hinted at releasing a deluxe edition of her sophomore album, further boosting her rapidly growing discography and commercial appeal.
