Anthony Joshua Hit with 28-Day Suspension After KO Loss to Dubois

Nigerian-British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been given a 28-day suspension from boxing by the British Boxing Board of Control following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last Saturday at Wembley Stadium.

Joshua was knocked down four times before being stopped in the fifth round by Dubois’ crushing right hand.

The suspension is a standard medical precaution following a knockout or technical knockout (KO/TKO) and prevents Joshua from competing in the ring for the next 28 days.

However, with no confirmed upcoming fights on his schedule, the enforced break is not expected to impact Joshua’s immediate plans.

The recent defeat marks Joshua’s fourth professional loss, having been beaten by Andy Ruiz Jr. and Oleksandr Usyk twice.

“We’ve got to look at the positives… It’s far from over yet,” Joshua had posted on his media page.

Despite growing speculation about his future, Joshua has dismissed retirement rumours, remaining resolute in his determination to return stronger.

Joshua has hinted at invoking a rematch clause to face Dubois again, while his promoter, Eddie Hearn, has suggested potential future matchups, including a long-anticipated showdown with Tyson Fury.

Meanwhile, Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, has mentioned that Dubois could fight again as early as February, leaving the door open for a rematch if Joshua pursues it.
