Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Returns This October With Tyla As Musical Headliner

489

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is making its highly anticipated return on October 15, with South African singer Tyla headlining the musical performances. This marks the first show since its cancellation in 2019, following declining ratings and criticism of the brand’s marketing strategies. Tyla, recently in the spotlight for her win at the MTV VMAs, will bring her unique blend of pop and R&B to the event, alongside top models like Tyra Banks and Gigi Hadid.

RollingStone reported that the company praised Tyla for her “vibrant personality” and “innovative take on pop and R&B”, citing her as a key figure in this year’s entertainment. Notably, Victoria’s Secret is breaking new ground by presenting an all-female musical lineup for the first time. The event will also showcase new fashion collections, including custom designs created specifically for the show.

Tyla’s appearance followed her controversial statement at the VMAs where she clarified her identity as an amapiano artist, not an Afrobeats singer, despite winning in the Best Afrobeats category. Her speech, along with her interaction with Lil Nas X and Halle Bailey on stage, stirred online debate, with some interpreting her actions as a diss towards Bailey.
