An entrepreneur, Akomolafe Bankole, said his N150 million poultry farm investment in Lokogoma, Abuja, was destroyed by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) on Saturday.
Announcing his predicament on X on Sunday, Bankole said no warning or prior notice was given, “just pure destruction and over 5,000 birds are dead,” he said.
However, West Africa Weekly could not independently verify if the poultry farm investment is worth N150 million.
The photos he posted on X showed the poultry building structures destroyed, with dead birds lying on the ground and some birds still alive, which he said would eventually die as they had been exposed to water.
Bankole expressed surprise that the destruction of the building happened despite him complying with every legal process.
Let it be clear that all papers, including the C of O (Certificate of Occupancy), were obtained and yet, some individuals in this government felt it was okay to destroy what I’ve worked for – an investment of a lifetime, he said.
The entrepreneur said the loss was not his alone to bear, but includes over 50 of his workers who are now thrown out of jobs.
“In this hard times, families will now suffer because of the evil of some individuals operating under the guise of FCDA,” he said.
I hope FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike is seeing the damage being done under his administration. I hope Madam First Lady who asked us to start farming can see the rubbish going on, Bankole said.
He further said he hopes no one accuses him of treason when he carries placards because “this is treason against me.”
