Wike Threatens To Cause Political Crisis In States Over Attempt To Take Rivers PDP Structure

Elder statesman Edwin Clark has petitioned the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the Minister’s recent threat to governors of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Last Saturday, at PDP’s congress in Rivers state, Wike threatened to “set fire on those states” whose governors, according to the Minister, may be trying to help Governor Sim Fubara to hijack the party structure in Rivers.

Wike warned the PDP governors against interfering in the party’s affairs in Rivers.

I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states. When God has given you peace, you say you don’t want peace – anything you see, you take, Wike had threatened.

Ijaw Leader Clark described Wike’s threat as treason and called for his immediate arrest.

He said the minister’s words could incite violence in the country.

He argued that the current administration, under President Bola Tinubu, had arrested and prosecuted many for less threatening comments.

The PDP in Rivers is embroiled in an internal crisis due to the fallout between Wiker and his successor, Fubara.
