Suspected gunmen have attacked the corps members’ lodge in Hadejia, Jigawa State. The attack occurred over the weekend, with the assailants reportedly making off with valuables, including laptops, cell phones, and cash.

According to a source who spoke to Sahara Reporters, the robbers invaded the lodge, breaking down the entrance door and inflicting injuries on some of the occupants.

Hadejia corps members’ lodge in Jigawa State was attacked by suspected hoodlums for the 4th time this year. They came and broke our entrance door, and they injured some of our members. Please, we need help and prayers, the source said.

Hadejia, a town in eastern Jigawa State, shares boundaries with Kiri Kasama Local Government to the east, Mallam Maɗori Local Government to the north, and Auyo Local Government to the west.

Despite the proximity of these local governments, the repeated attacks on the corps members’ lodge have raised serious concerns about the security of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the area.

This latest incident shows the growing insecurity faced by corps members in various parts of Nigeria.  However, it was earlier reported that the Federal Government is set to introduce a new training program similar to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for graduates of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), despite ongoing concerns over the safety and security of current NYSC members.
