A Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus was attacked in Orile, Lagos State, by a group of hoodlums in broad daylight, which left passengers wounded and their belongings stolen.

The incident occurred as the bus was transiting from Mile 2 to Leventis, nearing the Ore-Ofe bus stop, with 35 passengers on board.

According to videos on X, the vehicle was suddenly surrounded by a large mob that appeared from nowhere and blocked the bus to a halt.

The attackers, armed with sharp objects, assaulted the passengers, stabbing some and stealing phones, wallets, and other valuables.

The cowardly attack caused outrage and concern among the people of Lagos, with many questioning the safety of public transportation in the state.

On the heels of this incident, the Lagos State Government has condemned the attack and thus cautioned the perpetrators against such actions.

Mr Idowu Oguntona, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Bus Services Limited, LBSL, faulted the increasing actions of miscreants attacking BRT buses.

In a statement signed by Mr Afolabi Olawale, LBSL’s Public Affairs Officer, Oguntona described the attack as “inhumane, intolerable, and totally unacceptable.”

He maintained that the Lagos State Government would not fold its arms over such acts of lawlessness.

Oguntona further warned that any person planning such evil should cease, as it would no longer be condoned.
