Protesters at the ongoing #EndBadGovernance demonstration in Lagos have vehemently kicked against the government’s decision to restrict them to a single location, Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota.

These Protesters, calling for an end to corruption, economic struggles, and ineffective leadership, condemned the government’s action as “cruel” and “undemocratic“, arguing that this move violates their rights.

While the government cites security concerns as the reason for restricting the protest to Gani Fawehinmi Park, one of the #Endbadgovernance protesters said it was an effort to silence them and undermine their constitutional right to assemble peacefully.

We refuse to be restricted to one location and will continue to protest wherever we see fit,” Nneoma, an activist leading the protest, told AIT.

It’s a democratic dictatorship. They’re trying to dictate where we can and cannot protest. We won’t accept that, another protester, Tunde, commented.

Despite the government’s directive, the protesters have pledged to continue their demonstration, finding ways to bypass the imposed restrictions.

One protester, who wished to remain anonymous, remarked, “We’ll keep moving, we’ll keep protesting. We won’t let them silence us.”

According to a report from our correspondent at the Ojota protest ground, the protesters announced they would occupy Alausa on Monday to push their demands.

The #EndBadGovernance protest has been ongoing for three days, with more Nigerians joining to demand a better future for their country.
