Adekunle Gold Celebrates 8-Year Anniversary of Debut Album “Gold” with Heartfelt Reflections

Eight years ago today, Adekunle Gold released his debut album, “Gold,” a project that quickly established him as a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian music industry. Featuring breakout hits like “Sade,” “Orente,” and “Pick Up,” the album received critical acclaim and commercial success. “Sade” won Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015, marking the beginning of Adekunle Gold’s illustrious career.

“Gold” resonated deeply with listeners, peaking at number seven on Billboard’s World Album Charts in 2016. It also earned nominations at the 2017 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies in 2018, underscoring its impact and popularity.

Reflecting on the album’s release, Adekunle Gold shared his thoughts on its significance:

All I had was a dream. I knew I had a special gift, and I said to myself, ‘The world must hear this; they must know my name; these stories I have to share must mean something to people; these songs must find a home in people’s hearts.’ 8 years ago, my life changed forever.

Since “Gold,” Adekunle Gold has continued to release chart-topping albums, including “About 30,” “Afro Pop Vol. 1,” “Catch Me If You Can,” and “Tequila Ever After.” Each of these projects has further cemented his place in the Afrobeats genre, showcasing his evolution as an artist and his ability to deliver music that resonates with fans consistently.
