Earlier,  Tinubu experienced an unfortunate fall during the Democracy Day celebrations at Eagle Square in Abuja on Wednesday. The incident occurred as the president was preparing to review the parade, a key event in the series marking Nigeria’s 25 years of democracy.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have offered their sympathy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu experienced an unfortunate fall earlier on Wednesday during the Democracy Day celebrations at Eagle Square in Abuja.

The incident occurred as the president prepared to review the parade, a key event in the series marking Nigeria’s 25 years of democracy.

The mishap, captured in a now-viral video on social media, showed Tinubu missed his steps and fell before the motorcade parade commenced. His aide quickly rushed to help him regain his mobility and composure.

Obi wrote on X, “I was saddened to learn of President Tinubu’s unfortunate fall today. I wish him well. We achieve nothing by gloating about an accident that could well happen to any of us. We are all human beings, and while we profoundly disagree on how to move Nigeria forward, we must remember our common human frailty.”

“Let us focus on the issues that will lead to a new Nigeria. May this moment serve as a poignant reminder of our shared humanity and the need for compassion, empathy, and unity in our pursuit of a brighter future for our great nation,” he concluded.

Atiku also expressed his concern and sympathy on X, “I sincerely sympathise with President Bola Tinubu, @officialABAT, over this unfortunate incident as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him.”

Following the incident, the Presidency reassured the public that the fall was minor. Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, conveyed that President Tinubu was fine and continued with the planned events.
