Another building has reportedly collapsed in Lagos. The latest collapse, which occurred in the Isale Eko area of Lagos, has sparked fear in residents, as reports emerged of individuals trapped within the structure.
The collapse was believed to be linked to a previous fire that ravaged parts of Dosunmu Market on Lagos Island, impacting the integrity of nearby buildings.
Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), verified the occurrence and highlighted the extent of the damage. According to Farinloye, besides the collapsed building, 14 other structures suffered significant impacts from the previous fire incident.
He added that emergency response teams comprising personnel from NEMA, Federal and State Fire Services, the Nigeria Police, and the fire service of the Nigeria Ports Authority have been mobilised to the scene.
This is the second building collapse in Lagos in a week. Last week, a mosque in the Papa Ajao area of the state killed at least three people
