Bokkos Local Government Area communities are again gripped by unrest as reports emerge of renewed attacks by gunmen identified by locals as 'Fulani herders.'

At least 40 people were reportedly killed by bandits in Zurak Kompani and Bandalala, Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State.

According to Channels Television, residents said the attacks happened on Monday night as people were finishing the day’s work.

The bandits attacked both villages simultaneously, burning houses. In the chaos, some residents were killed and others injured.

About thirty people were killed in Kompani Zurak and another ten in Bandalala, with many still missing. Survivors have fled to nearby villages for safety.

A resident, Audu Ummah, said some of the injured are being treated in local health centres, while others have moved to Wase and nearby villages.

Security agencies and the state government have yet to comment on the attacks.

Meanwhile, this incident is part of a series of violent attacks in the North-Central state, where recent major attacks have killed many and displaced thousands.
