Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) has announced a decrease in its electricity tariff for customers in Band A from N225/kWh to N206.80/kWh.

On April 3, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approved an increase in electricity tariff for customers under the Band A category from N66 to N225 per kWh.

The commission said Band A electricity consumers, representing 15 per cent of the country’s 12 million electricity customers, use at least 20 hours of electricity supply daily.

However, announcing the decrease in a circular signed by its management on Monday, IKEDC stated that customers in this category will now pay N206.80/kWh instead of the previous rate set by the NERC with effects from May 6.

Please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kWh to N206.80/kwh effective 6th May 2024, IKEDC stated.

It also said customers in Band A would receive 20 to 24 hours of daily electricity supply, stating that the tariff for customers in other bands, including Bands B, C, D, and E, would remain unchanged.
