The Federal Government has declared May 1, 2024, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day, according to a press statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Aishetu Ndayako.

The announcement, conveyed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, underscored the importance of excellence, efficiency, and fairness in labour. Tunji-Ojo hinted at President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to creating a supportive work environment where every employee can prosper and contribute significantly to national development.

“In line with this year’s theme, focusing on ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate, the Federal Government remains dedicated to prioritising the safety and well-being of all citizens,” Tunji-Ojo stated.

The statement “urged Nigerians to remain committed to the present administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda as he wishes workers a happy celebration.”

The 2024 Workers’ Day is highly anticipated as President Bola Tinubu may announce the proposed minimum wage for workers and address issues such as fuel scarcity during a live broadcast to mark the occasion.
