CJN Ariwoola Approves Nyesom Wike’s Wife Among New Court of Appeal Judges

In a new list of appointment , Berechi Suzette Wike, wife of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has been promoted from the Rivers High Court to the Court of Appeal.

Berechi Suzette Wike, wife of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has been promoted from the Rivers State High Court to the Court of Appeal, a new list of judiciary appointments revealed.

This elevation comes as part of a larger reshuffling within the judiciary as Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kayode Ariwoola approved the appointments of 22 judges to fill vacancies following the retirement of senior jurists.

The announcement marked FJSC/01/2024 and signed by CJN Ariwoola on April 2, 2024, 22 judges were chosen out of a pool of 89 nominees from various states and federal high courts across all six geopolitical zones of the country.

Among the newly appointed jurists, representing the North-Central region were Justices Polycarp Tema Kwahar (Benue), Ruqayat Ayoola (Kogi), Eneche Eleojo (Kogi), Asmara Akanbi Yusuf (Kwara), Abdullahi Muhammad Liman (Nasarawa), and Abdu Dogo (FCT). While Justice Fadahu Umaru, from Borno state, was the sole appointee from the North East.

In the North-West region, Ishaq Mohammed Sani (Kaduna), Zainab Bage Abubakar (Kebbi), and Abdulaziz M. Ankara (Zamfara), while the South-East had Nnamdi Okwy Dimga Victoria (Abia), Toochukwu Nwoye (Anambra), Henry Aja-Onu Njoku (Ebonyi), Donatus Uwaezuoke Okorowo (Enugu), and Ngozika N Okaisabor (Imo).

Representing the South-South region were Justices Ntong Festus Ntong (Akwa-Ibom), Nehizena Idemudia Afolabi (Edo), and the notable inclusion of Ms. Berechi Suzette Wike (Rivers). Additionally, justices Lateef Babajide Lawal-Akapo (Lagos), Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi (Ogun), Oyewumi Oyejoju Oyebiola (Oyo), and Bayo Ademola Taiwo (Oyo) were named for elevation in the South-West region.
