A recent survey conducted by Skytrax revealed that Cape Town International Airport is the best airport in Africa. While this achievement calls for regional celebration, the airport’s global ranking has experienced a slight decline, dropping to 54th place from 23rd in 2020.

This shift in global standing shows the dynamic nature of international air travel and underscores the evolving standards within the aviation industry.

Despite this dip, Cape Town International Airport remains a standout performer on the African continent, showcasing the high benchmarks set by South African airports.

Following closely behind Cape Town, Durban’s King Shaka International Airport secured the second position, with OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg claiming third place on the continental list.

Beyond South Africa’s borders, Addis Ababa Bole International Airport in Ethiopia emerged as a significant player, securing the seventh spot in the African rankings.

In East Africa, Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport clinched the 10th position, highlighting Kenya’s enduring role in African aviation. Nairobi continues to serve as a vital nexus, connecting the region to the global air transport network.
