The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public notice regarding the ban on the sale of Dex Luxury Bar Soap (No 6 Mystic Flower) by the European Union (EU).

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public notice regarding the ban on the sale of Dex Luxury Bar Soap (No 6 Mystic Flower) by the European Union (EU). This decision comes in response to concerns over the product’s non-compliance with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

According to NAFDAC, the soap contains Butyphenyl Methylpropional (BMHCA), a substance prohibited in cosmetic products due to its potential risks to reproductive health, including harm to unborn children, and the possibility of skin sensitization.

Consequently, several regulatory and public authorities within the EU have imposed a ban on the marketing of this particular product.

The affected product, Dex Luxury Bar Soap (No 6 Mystic Flower), is manufactured in Turkey under the brand DEX, with a model number of 11.11.22 and barcode 8694965531.

Classified under the category of cosmetics, it has been flagged for non-compliance with safety regulations.

While these products are not listed in the NAFDAC database, the agency advises importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers to exercise caution and vigilance throughout the supply chain to prevent the importation, distribution, sale, and use of the banned soap.

Consumers who currently possess the product are urged to discontinue its use and sale, and to surrender their stock to the nearest NAFDAC office for proper disposal.
