Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema Miss Out at Brit Awards 2024

656

Nigeria’s representation at the prestigious Brit Awards faced disappointment once again, with Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema missing out on awards at this year’s ceremony held at London’s 02 Arena on Saturday night. Despite being nominated in the Best International Act of the Year category, Burna Boy and Asake lost to American star, SZA.

Similarly, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ failed to secure the award for Best International Song of the Year, losing to Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers.’ Nevertheless, Rema concluded the event with a captivating performance of his hit song, ‘Calm Down,’ becoming only the second African artist to perform at the BRITs after Burna Boy’s performance in 2019.

Meanwhile, Raye achieved a remarkable feat by winning six awards in one year at the BRITs, setting a new record for the most wins in a single year in BRITs history. Her accolades included Best New Artist, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best R&B Act, and Songwriter of the Year.
