The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has given the green light for the recruitment of 2,600 youths into the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) in the State. This measure aims to strengthen the capacity of security agencies in combating criminal activities such as banditry, kidnapping, and other forest-related crimes.

Igwe Larry, the Ebonyi State Commander of NHFSS, announced the approval in a statement to journalists on Monday.

According to the statement, eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old and have qualifications such as a WAEC School Certificate, National Diploma, NCE, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent. The statement also mentioned that vacancies for recruitment were open to both young men and women from Ebonyi State.

The state’s commander expressed appreciation on behalf of the NHFSS leadership to Governor Nwifuru for approval. He emphasised that the state government has confidence in the NHFSS’s ability to address the country’s insecurity effectively.

He also assured the governor of the organisation’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of Ebonyi State residents, particularly in tackling forest-related crimes, in line with the Ebonyi People’s Charter of Needs administration.
