Two Catholic priests have reportedly been kidnapped in Plateau State.

The Claretian missionaries – Fr. Kenneth Kanwa and Fr. Jude Nwachukwu – were reported to have been kidnapped Thursday evening, February 3, in their residence at St. Vincent De Paul Parish, Fier, Panskin Diocese, Plateau State.

The news was broken by Fr. Ugochukwu Ugwuoke on Friday via his X platform handle @FrUgochukwu. Fr. Ugwuoke said that the priests were abducted by “terrorists”.

He further urged Nigerians to “kindly pray for the safe and speedy release of these priests and other abducted persons in Nigeria.”

The two kidnapped priests are Claretian (CMF) missionaries serving in the Catholic Diocese of Pankshin.

The Claretians, abbreviated CMF, is a Catholic clerical religious congregation of Pontifical Right for men headquartered in Rome.

Plateau State has, in recent times, been facing increasing security issues. On February 1, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum donated N100m to Plateau attack victims.
