Nigeria defeat Angola to reach AFCON Semi-Final

442

Super Eagles of Nigeria clinched a hard-fought victory over Angola in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, securing their spot in the semifinals. Ademola Lookman emerged as the hero of the night, delivering a crucial goal in the 41st minute to sink the Angolan national team.

The tension was palpable as both teams vied for dominance on the pitch. Nigeria, known for its attacking prowess, sought to break through Angola’s defenses early on.

It was Lookman who provided the breakthrough, capitalizing on a scoring opportunity with precision and finesse. Lookman’s clinical finish showcased his talent and composure under pressure, further solidifying his status as a key player for the Super Eagles.

However, Victor Osimhen also curled in a header from Lookman’s assist, but the goal was ruled offside by the VAR.

Despite Angola’s valiant efforts to mount a comeback, Nigeria’s defense held firm, denying their opponents any clear-cut chances.

Nigeria advances to the semifinals of the African Cup of Nations, setting the stage for a showdown with either Cape Verde or South Africa on February 7th.
