Ewaoluwa Olatunji, known as Ewa Cole, and dubbed the “Queen of Afro-Solk,” has clinched the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous singing of Christmas songs. Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, the 29-year-old songstress accomplished this feat by singing for an impressive 31 hours, spanning from December 27 to December 28.

Ewa Cole undertook this extraordinary challenge with a mission to “promote peace and unity” while aiming to inspire confidence among young individuals. Reflecting on her childhood experiences leading Christmas carols at school, Ewa expressed that this moment was a culmination of years of preparation.

Throughout the marathon, Ewa serenaded her audience with classic Christmas tunes like “Deck the Halls,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Silent Night,” adhering to the rule of not repeating any song within a one-hour period.

The taxing endeavour took a toll on Ewa, who faced fatigue, throat pain, and stomach issues during the singing marathon. Despite encountering obstacles, such as mild food poisoning symptoms and intense throat pain, she pressed on, overcoming the challenges.

Ewa Cole, a software engineer and proprietor of her own clothing brand, expressed her excitement at securing the Guinness World Records title. As the pioneer of the “Afro-Solk” music genre, a fusion of Afro-pop, soul, and folk, she looks forward to exploring the boundless possibilities that lie ahead in her singing career.

“I can’t wait to explore and make the most of them!” exclaimed Ewa, still buzzing with the thrill of her remarkable achievement.
