Sinner beats Djokovic to reach first Grand Slam final

Jannik Sinner will be seeking to win his first grand slam on Sunday, Jan. 28

The world number 4 Tennis player Jannik Sinner has beaten world number 1 Novak Djokovic to reach the 2024 Australian Open final. This is the first time the 22-year-old is making it to a grand slam final.

The Italian beat the Serbian over four sets 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, delaying the 36-year-old Djokovic from going further for his 11th Australian Open title and 25th grand slam title.

This is the third time since November (9 weeks) that Sinner has beaten Djokovic, with Djokovic losing the Australian Open semi-final for the first time as well. Before November, Djokovic had won all of their previous encounters.

Later in the day, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev will battle it out for who will face the world number 4 – Sinner –  in the final taking place on Sunday, January 28.
