Staged Protesters Urge Tinubu Reinstate Betta Edu over Embezzlement

A group of protesters, Concerned Grassroot Women, has called in a demonstration for the reinstatement of Betta Edu during a ‘World Conference’ meeting held in Abuja on Saturday, 20th January 2024.

Following the conference came a recent video that has gone viral on social media featuring a group of market women staging a demonstration, holding signs, singing, and calling for a second chance for the alleged fraud, Betta Edu, the now-suspended Humanitarian Minister.

Betta Edu was previously accused of privatizing public funds and was placed on suspension by the Tinubu-led administration upon diversion and siphoning of funds meant to cater to the multi-dimensional poverty in Nigeria.

Of the protesters, many of whom are in their late 40s, and considering their level of exposure, appears a staged crowd urging the reinstatement of Betta Edu after the alleged fraud amounting to N44bn of public funds paid into her private account.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government’s Financial Regulations are clear in its stand on the fraudulent intention that no personal money be paid into the public account, nor public money into a personal bank account.

While Betta Edu, having been entrusted to public social responsibilities and funds, has proven to be a corrupt conduit to jeopardizing public trust while siphoning public funds for personal usage, staged protesters have come out seeking her reinstatement instead of accountability and justice.

Meanwhile, citizens have reacted in dismay and shock to see the display of what appears to be political, poverty and ignorance-motivated protesters on camera.
