Osimhen Extends Stay at Napoli till 2026

216

Napoli, the reigning Italian champions, have secured the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for an extended period, announcing the contract renewal that binds the player to the club until 2026.

The official confirmation was made via Napoli’s social media channels, showcasing a momentous picture capturing Osimhen’s contract signing alongside club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

“Victor and Napoli together until 2026,” according to Napoli’s official statement, celebrating the commitment of the African Footballer of the Year to the club.

While the specific details of the new contract remain undisclosed by Napoli, Italian media reports suggest the inclusion of a release clause ranging between 120 million and 130 million euros ($132 million and $143 million).

This clause serves as a safeguard, preventing the potential departure of the star player to any club without substantial compensation for Napoli.

Osimhen’s contract renewal has been a prominent topic of discussion in Italian football circles, particularly following Napoli’s triumphant Serie A title win last season, marking their first league victory in over three decades. The Nigerian striker’s contribution to the team’s success was pivotal, notably scoring 26 league goals under departed coach Luciano Spalletti.

Since he arrived from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has made a significant impact, netting an impressive total of 67 goals in 118 appearances, solidifying his position as a key asset for Napoli’s offensive prowess.

As Victor Osimhen extends his commitment to Napoli, the club and its fans anticipate his continued contributions towards their pursuit of domestic and European glory, aiming to bridge the gap in Serie A and maintain their competitive edge in future competitions.
