1XBET Refuses to Pay Customer’s ₦52.5 Million Winning, Clears Bet History

1XBET, an international betting platform registered as Beaufort Bet in Nigeria, has refused to pay one of its customers a winning ticket of N52.5 million.

In an email received by West Africa Weekly, Mr Ugochukwu Peter Emeka said the betting platform is denying him his winnings of  ₦52.5 million. Emeka pointed out that the platform fraudulently reduced his balance to ₦1,000, the amount used to stake the winning bet.

Speaking on what ensued, Emeka said he placed the bet on the 25th of August, and after winning the bet with a total payout of ₦52.5 million, he left the fund in his bet account, intending to invest it.

However, upon logging into his bet account, he was devastated to see his balance slashed to just ₦1,000, with no apparent explanation. He filed a complaint with the platform’s customer care line.

“When I won, I was happy. I had similar smaller wins from other bets that weren’t cancelled. So, I didn’t suspect anything would go wrong. But when I checked my account yesterday, everything was gone,” Emeka lamented.

He pointed out that after his complaint, 1XBET referred him to their security team, which asked for his National ID and questioned if he was related to an individual named Jean Blaise.

Despite providing the requested documents, Emeka was informed that the company “reserves the right not to accept any bet,” a clause used to justify the cancellation of his winnings. The platform’s security team communicated this via email.

Evidence documented his conversations with the company, showing a blatant disregard for his concerns. He believed the company’s actions were motivated by the large sum he won.

“I’ve won smaller amounts, and they didn’t cancel those. But because this one was too big for them to handle, they wiped it off,” he stated.

Adding to the frustration, Emeka told West Africa Weekly that 1XBET had blocked his account, erasing all evidence of his bet history.

“The way they hurriedly referred me to the security team, you will just know all the staff have been briefed on what to say when I called cause I made more than three call-back requests and even called myself, and everyone immediately referred me to mail their security team and from the screen record of my mail conversation with the security team, you can see how blatantly arrogant they responded, everything smelled of FRAUD and oppression cause they wanted to test me and see how I would respond to their requests,” he said.

“They know I won. It’s on their system. But now, they’ve blocked me from accessing my account to hide the truth.” he told West Africa Weekly.
