55

Will Smith is set to perform a new song at the 2024 BET Awards, set to air live on Sunday, June 30, at 8 pm ET/PT. BET announced the news Monday morning but did not provide further details about the song or the performance.

From his start as a rapper to The Fresh Prince to being a box office king as one of the Bad Boys, Will Smith is truly a global icon, and we are honoured to welcome him back to grace the BET Awards stage, stated Connie Orlando, executive VP specials, music programming, and music strategy at BET. We look forward to Will adding to yet another defining night for the culture that is not to be missed.

The award show will also feature performances from artists including GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Ms. Lauryn Hill, YG Marley, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Tyla, and Victoria Monét. Additionally, Taraji P. Henson will return as host, and Grammy-winning singer Usher will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement BET Award.

Smith recently re-entered the music scene with his collaboration with Sean Paul on “Light Em Up,” featured on the soundtrack for his latest film, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” This track marked his first release in nearly five years, following his guest appearance on Joyner Lucas’ “Will (Remix)” in 2020.
