Wigwe University, founded by the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, is gearing up to open its doors to the public in August 2024.

The university, situated in Isiokpo within the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, is poised to offer a diverse array of programs across four significant colleges.

The Colleges of Management and Social Sciences, Art, Science and Computing, and Engineering will form the academic backbone of Wigwe University.

Spearheading this academic venture will be Prof. Miles Davis, appointed as the university’s pioneer Vice-Chancellor earlier this year. Alongside him are luminaries such as Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Founding Partner of Kenna Partners, Dr. Ajoritsedere Awosika and Mrs. Mosunmola Belo-Olusoga, among other members.

As indicated on its website, all programs are designed to meet global benchmarks, with partnerships fostering joint research, international exchanges, and internship opportunities.

The university unveiled its fee structure, with the cheapest college, Arts, offering a total fee of N9,600,000.

Meanwhile, students enrolled in the Colleges of Engineering, Management and Social Sciences, and Science and Computing will pay a fee of ₦11,998,800, covering tuition, books, laboratory supplies, personal protective equipment, e-learning resources, and health insurance, among other essentials.

Recall the founder, Herbert Wigwe, met an untimely demise alongside his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizzy, in a helicopter crash in California on February 9, 2024.
