The United States of America government under President Donald Trump is reportedly working on a new travel restriction policy that could impact citizens from 43 countries, including 22 in Africa, according to The New York Times.

The policy would introduce varying entry restrictions for travellers from these nations. The proposed list is divided into three categories:

Red List: Citizens from Libya, Somalia, and Sudan would be banned from entering the U.S.

Orange List: Travelers from Eritrea, Sierra Leone, and South Sudan would face new restrictions and stricter visa requirements.

Yellow List: Countries such as Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and others would be given 60 days to improve security procedures or risk stricter measures.

This move comes amid ongoing debates over U.S. immigration policies under the Trump administration, which has previously implemented travel bans targeting Muslim-majority countries. Critics argue that the expanded restrictions disproportionately affect African nations, while the administration insists they are necessary for national security.
