Tinubu’s Delegation Visits Kidnapped School Children Families in APC Branded Vehicles

19

A presidential delegation sent by President Bola Tinubu to Oyo State to meet with families of abducted school children arrived in vehicles bearing All Progressives Congress campaign insignia, drawing sharp condemnation from social media users.

The delegation, led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, visited communities in Oriire Local Government Area on May 30, 2026, more than two weeks after bandits abducted at least 45 students and seven teachers from three schools. The attackers also killed one teacher during the May 15 raid.

Photographs and videos circulating online showed some of the delegation members stepping out of sport utility vehicles clearly marked with APC campaign logos and colours. The branding was prominently displayed on the vehicle doors and bonnets.

A post on X from user PENTANE captured the public sentiment, stating: “Are you saying these people arrived in APC campaign branded vehicles to visit the families of the kidnapped children? Omoooo!!!! This APC people have no shame.”

The abduction victims include students from Community High School in Ahoro Esinele and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School. No rescue has been announced as of this report, and the children remain in captivity.

The presidential delegation had announced the approval of 1,000 forest guards to intensify rescue efforts in the region. Officials also conveyed President Tinubu’s commitment to securing the safe return of the hostages.

There has been no official response from the Presidency or the APC regarding the use of campaign branded vehicles for the sensitive visit. Attempts to reach the delegation members for comment were unsuccessful.
