Tems, Burna Boy Set New Billboard Hot 100 Record for African Artistes

17

Nigerian music stars Tems and Burna Boy have set a new milestone on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the African artistes with the highest number of entries on the chart.

The record was achieved after both singers appeared on tracks from J. Cole’s latest album The Fall-Off, with Tems featuring alongside Future on “Bounce Road Blues,” which debuted at No. 34, while Burna Boy appeared on “Only You,” which entered at No. 78.

The new placements push each artiste’s career total to eight entries on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing the previous African record held by the South African rock band Seether.

Tems now holds the distinction of being the African artiste with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries in 2026, after recording three appearances on the chart this year alone. Earlier, she became the first African female artiste to reach seven total entries, tying Burna Boy before moving ahead with the latest release.

Burna Boy, who has consistently appeared on the chart over the past few years, also extended his own record. The Grammy-winning singer has now charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years, from 2021 through 2026, the longest such run by an African artiste.

The achievement reflects the growing global reach of Afrobeats, with Nigerian artistes increasingly securing mainstream recognition on one of the world’s most competitive music charts.
